It has not been a good start for the arrangements for the  Michael Jackson Tribute Concert; With several  members of the Jackson family against the tour, fans up in arms about the way the tickets will be allocated and now the announcement of the headliners for the show delayed.

Michael Jackson Tribute Concert

The first problem encountered was from Michael Jackson’s brothers Jermaine and Randy Jackson, who released a statement following the announcement of the tribute concert, saying although they supported ‘the spirit’ of their brother’s tribute concert, the timing has ‘disrespected’ their wishes and opinions.

The brothers are unhappy with the clash of the concert with the trial of the Doctor accused of Michael’s death, saying in a statement  ‘In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live.’

Fans Disgusted With Ticket Allocation.

Global Live, the organisers of the tribute concert, are now under scrutiny as fans have reacted angrily to the way the tickets are being sold.

Fans logging onto the official Michael Forever -Tribute Concert website have been asked to “Choose your tickets and tell us how much you will give to the charities at the time of purchase”, adding ” Remember the more you pledge to the charity, the more chance you have of getting a ticket. Tickets will range from £55 to £289 plus shipping. The amount you pledge is up to you.”

Disgusted Jackson fans have hit back by saying that the tickets are now a “lottery for the rich”.

Sounds to me as if the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on the 8th October 2011, will be full of celebrities, the privileged and the very rich, I am sure that Michael Jackson would not have agreed to this and would be very unhappy to see his die-hard fans pushed aside.

Press Conference Cancelled

But today there seems to be another spanner in the works as yesterday was the date promised for the announcement of the bands who will be involved with the concert.

This has now been delayed, organisers Global Live were to release an announcement at 6pm on the 4th August, but the press conference was cancelled.

The official Michael Forever Facebook page showed a statement saying “We will wait with the announcement until we can name the new headline act.”

Is The Concert Doomed?

In other words are they saying they don’t know who the headline act is? Or, are they waiting to hear whether the trial date has been moved again. Either way this tribute concert is sadly doomed, what could have been a joyous occasion, remembering a true music genius is now shrouded in controversy.
