It was announced last week that the Queen will be staying in Balmoral slightly longer than usual this summer. This is to give the public more time to visit Buckingham Palace and  view the most anticipated wedding dress of the decade.

Kate's dress goes on display at Buckingham Palace

The intricately designed gown went on show to the public at Buckingham Palace last week.

The Queen and Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cornwall toured the exhibit at the  Palace recently where Queen Elizabeth joked that the dress was “horrid”, not the sort of thing you want to hear about your wedding dress really, but she meant that it looked quite spooky without a body or a head!

This £250,000 dress by Alexander McQueen is undoubtably the star of  Buckingham Palace’s open season. Alongside the dress is the  tiered wedding cake, the Queens shoes, a 1936 Cartier tiara, loaned to Kate by the Queen containing 1,000 diamonds and other items from the big day.

This exhibition is expected to receive a record number of visitors.  Over 600,000 people paying £17.50 each to view the exhibition over the next 10 weeks will definitely help with the Queens finances!

In 1994 Buckingham Palace saw a record-breaking 420,000 visitors, which earned the Palace ‘Best UK Attraction’ at both the Group Travel Awards and the Group Leisure Awards.

It will be interesting to see the final figure for this years eagerly anticipated exhibition.

Fantastic news from a press conference in Los Angeles in the US yesterday, confirming that there will be a Michael Jackson Tribute Concert to be held at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales of all places on the 8th October 2011.

The Millennium stadium was chosen because of its ability to hold 75,000 people, but can also create intimate surroundings with its sliding roof. Global Live Events have said they didn’t want a “Massive outdoor festival, we can create an intimate atmosphere that Michael would be proud to perform in.

Winner of Music Video Of The week goes to Avenged Sevenfold with Nightmare.
Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare

Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare

The band who are from California were formed in 1999, and are known for their heavy metal sound.

Nightmare is the single from their fifth studio album Nightmare which was released in July 2010, it is the first album recorded by the band since the death of their founding member and drummer James “The Rev” Sullivan in December 2009.

The Rev, appeared on the album after his death, luckily leaving clear and in tune vocals which the band used on the record. Following the untimely death of their band mate, Avenged Sevenfold were on the verge of splitting, but the album Nightmare was born and dedicated to Sullivan.

Nightmare was debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200 selling 163,000 copies and ended Eminem’s rein at number No.1 for six weeks on the Billboard 200.

The album won the Golden God Award in February 2011 for “Album Of The Year”.

I think the late drummer The Rev will be very proud indeed!

If you are lucky enough to be holidaying over the pond, then BritEvents have Avenged Sevenfold tickets available, so grab them and see this fantastic hard rock band live in the US!

UK rock band Kasabian have released their new video for the new single Switchblade Smiles.

Written by the guitarist and backing vocalist Serge Pizzorno, this heavily synthesized track, Switchblade Smiles  has been taken from their fourth album Velociraptor, due out later in the year.

Kasabian - Switchblade Smiles

Kasabian - Switchblade Smiles

This very likeable track, very reminiscent of an old Oasis track mixed with a bit of Muse, is unusual for the band as it seems to be quite dark compared to their other work.

It was premièred throughout their four-date warm-up tour which included the Leeds O2 Academy and also at RockNess and Isle Of Wight festivals.

Cleverly shot against a white back ground the band are first shot upside down before Serg and band member Tom Meighan start up an angry war of words,  who then go on to join their bandmates smashing up their kit!

After appearing at the O2 In Leeds, RockNess and  Isle Of Wight Fetival this year, the new album which is due out on the 19th September 2011, is  smashing the pre-order charts in all of the major stores in the UK.

The space rock quartet who have just finished a series of shows in the UK in June are taking the band on the road in Europe where they will be performing at various venues. BritEvents.com have Kasabian tickets available, so grab them and look forward to seeing this band live in November 2011.

With an overwhelming majority, the Music Video Of The Week is Lenny Kravitz with Fly Away.
Lenny Krazitz tours Europe

Lenny Krazitz tours Europe

This is one of my most favorite Lenny Kravitz songs, and my son has loved this since he was just 2 years old and at the age of 11 Ben still loves listening to it.

Fly Away is the fourth single from Lenny Kravitz album 5, and is the musicians most successful song to date. The single was a hit in the UK and the US earning the rock artist a Grammy Award in 1999 for Best Male Rock Performance, after the song helped expand the success of the album 5 in Europe.

Lenny Kravitz will be touring Europe later in the year, kick starting with Zenith of  Amiens on the 15th October 2011 and making his way around Europe until he reaches Paris Bercy in France on the 29th November 2011.

BritEvents.com bring you Lenny Kravitz tickets for all the European tour dates, so compare our prices and ‘Fly Away’ with a great deal!

Billed as a show like no other the Batman Live World Arena Tour hits Britain next week as the live-action show has its premiere at the Manchester MEN Arena on Tuesday 19th July. The show will then move on around Britain and Ireland before swooping over the pond to conquer the US.

The multi-million pound stage extravaganza is the creation of Anthony van Laast, a highly respected choreographer, whose past work includes Mama Mia and Sister Act. The story, which was written specially for the show by Allan Heinberg, looks to make the most of the fantastic stunts, acrobatic acts and illusions that promise to thrill the audiences.

The storyline is promised to be a strong one, in keeping with the original ethos of the Caped Crusader and the original DC comics from whence he came.

As Van Laast  said in an interview with the Daily Telegraph “What’s very important is that even though we can do the flying and the stunts and the circus and everything you’d expect from an extravaganza, I’ve said from the very beginning unless we have a really good story with characters we care about, the audience would get bored in about ten or fifteen minutes”.

The Storyline to focus on  orphaned Robin

The show will focus on Dick Grayson, better known as Batman’s faithful sidekick, Robin, a circus performer who is orphaned by organised crime, and his quest for justice, which leads him to team up with his hero, Batman, who suffered similarly as a child. The show, neither a musical nor a regular theatre production has been dubbed ‘an elaborate all-new, all-action arena production aimed at kids and families”. It certainly sounds fantastic.

Batman Live to showcase infamous bad guys

Batman Live will showcase all of Gotham City’s infamous bad guys such as The Joker, The Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Two-Face, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. As always the band of super-villains will be threatening the safety of Gotham City and it’s inhabitants with no-one but our eponymous heroes, Batman and Robin, able to save the day, even in the face of such overwhelming odds.

There will be massive, detailed sets providing the gloomy, gothic backdrop we know so well from the movies and these will feature those well-known Gotham City locations such as Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum. The costumes look absolutely superb and they really bring all the over-sized characters fully to life. And of course, where would Batman be without his famous means of getting round the crime plagued city? One of the most anticipated elements of the show is an all-new Batmobile, created purely for the show by Formula One’s Professor Gordon Murray, that will roar to life on stage.

The show is rumoured to have cost £7.5 million

Although the Broadway produced Spiderman musical was not a huge success when released in America in December, mainly due to technical difficulties, van Laast has promised that Batman Live will be different. “The only comparison is that they’re both about heroes”. “We’re in an arena, we can fly wherever we want” he added explaining that many of the Spiderman problems stemmed from being restricted to a traditional theatre. As the show is rumoured to have cost in excess of £7.5 million to put together I hope the show is a success for all concerned but in the words of Robin it’s a “Holy Gambles Batman”.

With its vast arenas, mind-blowing stunts and acrobatics, the fabulous sets and wild costumes, as well as a strong story highlighting the age-old battle between good and evil and the growth of the relationship between Batman and the Robin, Batman Live has all the ingredients to be a massive success.

The show’s executive producer, Nick Grace, who has been working with both Warner Brothers and DC Comics for the last three years, said he hoped families and comic book fans alike would come to and enjoy the two-hour show and he was unconcerned that younger children would be afraid of the villains, such as The Joker.  “I think kids like to be scared” he said “It’s a fantasy and we want kids to come and enjoy it”.

So, riddle me this folks – will you be brave enough to come along and support one of our great super-heroes in his efforts to defeat the master criminals facing him? Gadzooks, you’d be a fool to miss it.

BritEvents invited to Gala Performance

A review of the show will surely follow, as BritEvents have been invited to the Batman Gala night at the MEN in Manchester on Tuesday.

Simon Le Bon has pulled Duran Duran from V this year due to damage to his vocal chords, but who was going to replace the 80’s band?

Say a big V Festival hello to Calvin Harris, who will  ‘Bounce’ into the shoes of Duran Duran and headline the festival this year on the Arena stage during the weekend of 2oth and 21st August.

Calvin Harris Bounces Into Duran Duran's shoes

Calvin Harris Bounces Into Duran Duran's shoes

Calvin Harris the Scottish DJ and producer will play Duran Duran’s slot at the dual Festival this August after Simon Le Bon damaged his voice performing at the Cannes Film Festival, the injury has left him unable to reach the top notes.

So, ‘Save A Prayer’ for the Rio trio, as they have also had to cancel their performance at the iTunes festival on the 16th July.

Simon said, “This has been an extremely difficult decision to make as the injury I seem to have sustained is an internal one and so no-one can tell me exactly how long it’s going to take to  mend completely.”

Perhaps the singer should just pop over and see Adele, as she seems to be suffering from the same ‘Notorious’ problem.

So hats off to the dance star for stepping in, he will be joined by The Arctic Monkeys, Plan B, Rihanna, The Script, Pendulum and many more.

Calvin told the Shropshire Star,”I can’t wait to perform at V Festival – the crowds are always amazing at both Chelmsford and Stafford. It’s going to be a lot of fun”.

BritEvents.com have V Festival tickets available, so for all you avid festivalgoers out there, get ‘Ready For The Weekend’ and take a peek at BritEvents and compare our prices!

Bill Bailey has offered ahead of the Sonisphere festival this weekend to stand in for the massive rockers Metallica.

The star of Never Mind The Buzzcocks and  Black Books has always been a metal fan and refers to heavy metal music in his stand up shows. The comedian hopes that being at Sonisphere this weekend, the entire crowd will understand his heavy metal references.

Headlining at Knebworth this weekend, Bill Bailey has confirmed that this is the type of festival that he would go to anyway, and has brought along a band to ‘metal up’ some of his songs he uses in his routine.

The baboon loving comedian is set to appear on the Saturn Stage in front 50,000 metal fans on Sunday 10th July before Slipknot close the festival on the Apollo stage.

Bill Bailey starts his dandelion Mind Tour in November, BritEvents.com have Bill Bailey tickets up for grabs, so check us out and compare our prices.

Slipknot Humbled by 2 Minute Silence

Slipknot Humbled by 2 Minute Silence

Also appearing at Sonisphere this weekend is Slipknot, who have been reported to be humbled by the two-minute silence for Paul Gray the late bassist for the band who died last year.

A two-minute silence is a long time for a bunch of drunken metal heads, and frontman Corey Taylor has agreed saying, “Dude, what are the chances a bunch of drunk concertgoers are going to be able to shit the fuck up for a whole two minutes?”

Adding “You know dudes are going to be yelling “Fuck yeah” or “Slayer” during those two minutes. No way there’s going to be absolute silence”.

I’m glad that he realises that 50,000 headbangers keeping silent for two minutes is an impossible task!

BritEvents have Sonisphere tickets available, so if you want to join Slipknot, Metallica, Limpbizkit and Bill Bailey then grab these tickets and join the party!

Have a great weekend metal fans, I think this weekend is gonna be a heavy hangover!
