Although 40 years may have passed since the release of Mike Oldfield’s ground-breaking and best-selling Tubular Bells album the music still has the power to inspire and amaze.

Tubular Bells tours the UK

If you listened carefully during the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony you will have heard a brief re-arrangement used in the piece celebrating the NHS.

Fast forward from 1973 and the three sequels Oldfield released in the 1990’s to 2008 and Australia. Picture two musicians, Aidan Roberts and Daniel Holdsworth, who are long-time friends, sat around a camp fire, trying to play Tubular Bells the whole way through, using only their two guitars. That’s how Tubular Bells For Two, the multi-award winning musical show was born.

It took them nine months of rehearsal and the introduction of nineteen other instruments, but eventually the pair were able to perform the album live and its no exaggeration to say that their show has gone from strength to strength since. After wowing audiences Down Under and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Tubular Bells For Two is ready to hit London, with its premiere at Union Chapel in Islington on May 25..

When Mike Oldfield released his 1973 classic, it required more than 30 musicians to perform it. But now, exactly 40 years later, it just takes two musicians, albeit massively talented ones, to recreate the album on stage, in real-time and in a unique and compelling theatrical experience.

The original album shot to number one around the world, throwing its young composer into the international spotlight whilst kick-starting Richard Branson’s Virgin empire.

You really must get tickets to the show to witness the herculean feat of Daniel Holdsworth and Aidan Roberts racing from instrument to instrument , juggling pianos, organs, guitars, mandolin, drums, glockenspiel, loop pedals, synthesizers and, of course, Tubular Bells.

These amazing musicians  recreate the beauty and playful lunacy of one of the most important albums of the 20th Century … with just four hands and four feet.

Welsh Rockers Stereophonics have been touring the UK this December to sold out audiences. Birmingham’s O2 Academy have announced today that a small batch of tickets have been added for tonight’s gig.

Stereophonics' new album 'Graffiti On A train' to be released in March 2013

More tickets added for the Stereophonics for tonight in Birmingham

The O2 Academy used their Facebook page to advertise the news this afternoon that more tickets had been released for the stereophonics later this evening (19 December).

BritEvents.com have also got tickets available for tonight’s event at the O2 Academy and tickets for the  Stereophonics gig in The Troxy in London for tomorrow night (20 December).

The Stereophonics who formed in 1992 in Wales, have had their fair share of sadness.  After playing their first ever gig in Cardiff City Stadium to a sold out audience of 30,000, the original drummer Stuart Cable was found dead in his home just two days later.

Audio Engineer Javier Weyler from Argentina replaced the original sticksman in 2005

Unfortunately in July of this year the band announced on Facebook and Twitter that Javier had left the band, but no explanation as to why the drummer had left was given.

In September of this year it was announced that the former drummer for the Noisettes , Jamie Morrison had replaced Weyler, and a month later the band released a video for the track ‘Violins and Tambourines’ from their upcoming album ‘Graffiti On The Train’ due for release in March 2013.

So, grab the chance of seeing one of the most underrated bands of the decade and get your Stereophonics tickets from BritEvents.com

Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty – A Gothic Romance has overcome the 100 year dilemma.

If you have ever read the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty you will know that the story line is about a princess who is put under a sleep spell for 100 hundred years to be woken by a kiss from a prince.

Not exactly a romantic story, as, according to Matthew Bourne,  there is no real love interest until the end.

But Matthew Bourne’s stunning ballet overcomes this slight problem by implementing some vampire action with an “element of True Blood”, he told BBC Breakfast this morning.

The contemporary choreographer also wanted to create a love interest before the princess is put under the sleeping spell, with the dilemma of how the prince can stay alive for over 100 years.

So, the obvious solution for the choreographer, is of course to use the ever-growing public’s fascination and  interest in the vampire community, as Matthew Bourne said this morning, “we are not here to maintain tradition” and told the presenters on BBC that he likes to approach things in a different way adding his own spin to stories.

The story begins at Princess Aurora’s Christening and will take you on a journey into a haunting, mythical and mysterious world filled with fairies, princess and vampires, where the traditional tale of good v bad is turned on its head, creating a supernatural love story that travels across the decades.

This delightfully dark and mysterious ballet is suitable for all ages, with breathtaking scenery and “more costumes and quick changes than ever before” Matthew Bourne certainly delivers yet another spectacle!!!

Sleeping Beauty is playing at The Lowry until this weekend and will be touring throughout the UK until next May. For more information on Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty tickets go to http://www.britevents.com

Rumours have been flying around that The Rolling Stones are touring the UK.

There is good and bad news, The Rolling Stones are not touring the UK, but will be appearing in November 2012 at the O2 Arena for just two nights and further two nights in New York in the US.

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones are to play London’s O2 in November

Guitarist Keith Richards has let it slip that the band have “booked shows in London and New York”, after the band had previously denied the rumours. Richards confirmed the bookings during an interview with Q magazine and also told them that there will be a run of shows in the UK and in the US.

He told the magazine: “We’ve got some shows in London, I believe, and in New York, but I really can’t talk about any of that at the moment. They’ve put a gag on me on this. You can hint!”.

The band, who are set to celebrate their 5oth anniversary, will be sharing a stage together this autumn amid rumours that the band are booked for Glastonbury in 2013 as their last ever performance together.

Glastonbury tickets sold out within 1 hour and 40 minutes last Sunday, despite the fact that non of the headlined bands had been confirmed. But there was ample evidence, according to lucky ticket holders, that The Rolling Stones are to headline and use the festival to bid farewell once and for all!

The band who have been working together on a new album ‘GRRR’ The Collection have released a debut single, their first of two, called ‘Doom and Gloom’. The second single which they are said to be still working on, is called ‘One More Shot’.

These two new singles is the first new material to be released by the band since their 2005 album ‘A Bigger bang’.

If the rumours are true that The Stones are to headline Glasto next year then the tens of thousands of ticket holders have certainly purchased a golden opportunity to see one of the most iconic bands to come out of the UK this century!

BritEvents.com have had our ears to the ground and can tell our readers that news about The Rolling Stones tickets will be available within the next week or so.

So, you can get ‘Satisfaction’ by keeping abreast with The Rolling Stones breaking news with www.britevents.com, where you will always Get What You Want!
