This young boy-band has become one of the newest world-wide hits after they competed against each other on The X Factor.

The boys didn’t qualify as solo artists, but an ingenious decision to put them through as a boyband has led to world wide domination!

Their debut album, which followed their success after the X Factor, Up all Night immediately shot to the top of the UK chats in the first week of its release.

Winning their first Brit Award, making music history in the US,  selling out at each of their concert tours and playing to packed out screaming audiences has shown that this young group of lads are already at the top of their career, and there is no time like the present to cash in on a world tour.

So, with massive hype and publicity the band have announced they will tour the world with their ‘Where We Are World Tour’ in 2014.

There is no doubt that tickets to see One Direction are going to be in high demand, but BritEvents will have 1D tickets available for  fans on Saturday 25 May at 10am.

They have confirmed four dates in the UK which include 28 May at the Stadium Of Light in Sunderland, Etihad Stadium in Manchester on 31 May, Murrayfield Stadium on 3 June and finishing at the Wembley Stadium on 7 June 2014.

Make sure you click on these links to receive ticket alerts,  latest One Direction news, great deals and special offers.

The band have been rumoured to have more dates up their sleeve, so make sure you keep a close eye on BritEvents.com for the release of more One Direction Tickets and UK tour dates.

A new album is to be released later this year and will be supported with their tour, the boys have been teasing fans about their new album saying  they have moved direction and have taken a slightly rockier tone with an edgier sound to it.

The Jonus Brothers did it and with much success, so why not One Direction!!

The lads are still very young, but have achieved  much success in their life so far, let’s all hope that they don’t go down the same road as JLS and fizzle out after a few years.

The boys have said that the music is growing with them, keeping their music fresh and up to date is a sure-fire way of keeping them band on trend.

Good luck to Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik on their worldwide jaunt!!

Although 40 years may have passed since the release of Mike Oldfield’s ground-breaking and best-selling Tubular Bells album the music still has the power to inspire and amaze.

Tubular Bells tours the UK

If you listened carefully during the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony you will have heard a brief re-arrangement used in the piece celebrating the NHS.

Fast forward from 1973 and the three sequels Oldfield released in the 1990’s to 2008 and Australia. Picture two musicians, Aidan Roberts and Daniel Holdsworth, who are long-time friends, sat around a camp fire, trying to play Tubular Bells the whole way through, using only their two guitars. That’s how Tubular Bells For Two, the multi-award winning musical show was born.

It took them nine months of rehearsal and the introduction of nineteen other instruments, but eventually the pair were able to perform the album live and its no exaggeration to say that their show has gone from strength to strength since. After wowing audiences Down Under and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Tubular Bells For Two is ready to hit London, with its premiere at Union Chapel in Islington on May 25..

When Mike Oldfield released his 1973 classic, it required more than 30 musicians to perform it. But now, exactly 40 years later, it just takes two musicians, albeit massively talented ones, to recreate the album on stage, in real-time and in a unique and compelling theatrical experience.

The original album shot to number one around the world, throwing its young composer into the international spotlight whilst kick-starting Richard Branson’s Virgin empire.

You really must get tickets to the show to witness the herculean feat of Daniel Holdsworth and Aidan Roberts racing from instrument to instrument , juggling pianos, organs, guitars, mandolin, drums, glockenspiel, loop pedals, synthesizers and, of course, Tubular Bells.

These amazing musicians  recreate the beauty and playful lunacy of one of the most important albums of the 20th Century … with just four hands and four feet.

Due to phenominal public demand, Micky Flanagan has announced another date at the NIA as part of his ‘Back in the Game’ tour.
Extra date added for Micky Flanagan at the NIA

Micky Flanagan adds an extra date to the NIA

The British comedian has once again extended his tour to include Saturday 9 November at the NIA in Birmingham.

This ‘Back in the Game’ tour follows his very successful ‘Out Out’ tour which received massive critical and commercial success, and this extra date follows the announcement made earlier this year that the comedian will be playing the NIA in March and November.

The Londoner is really at the top of his game and seems to have appeared from nowhere, but winning the Best Breakthrough act at the British Comedy Awards and his appearances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Road show and Live at the Apollo, Micky has now become one of the top comedians in the UK.

Tickets to see Micky Flanagan are available from BritEvents now, tickets for the extra date  on 9 November at the NIA will go on sale on BritEvents on Saturday 16 March.

A family friendly festival in Gloucestershire

As  massive fans of the family music event Nibley Festival, BritEvents is looking forward to a fab weekend and this year is going to be a corker with some massive bands, big names and some up and comers in the music industry.
Size Of A Cow?

Let’s get Dizzy!!

Headlining this year’s Nibley Festival is alternative rock group The Wonder Stuff.

The Wonder stuff are Famous for their hit track ‘Size of a Cow’ and for teaming up with comedian Vic Reeves, with their successful hit single Dizzy which  went straight to the top of the charts. They have had 5 top 40 albums and 13 top 40 singles in the UK. The band have never been tempted to follow a celebrity image or lifestyle, but their gigs are  about having fun and delivering great music, what a perfect match for Nibley Festival!

A right Royal welcome goes to the next headliner King Charles.

This classically trained singer has been writing music from the age of 17. In 2009 King Charles was awared the International Songwriting Competition in Nashville, which resulted in the Glam-Folk Pop artist being signed by Universal Republic/Island.  I, for one, am looking forward to seeing King Charles perform live at Nibley – what a treat!

All bow to the King

A right royal knees up at Nibley

Another band performing at this years festival is the first Ukulele Supergroup The Rinky Dinks.

Formed in 2006 the band’s philosophy has always been about borrowing songs and giving them a Ukulele twist. They have an eclectic mix of music from ska, swing, bluegrass and house. The band were called “one of the highlights of the year” when they appeared on BBC Radio 6 Music Breakfast show with DJ Shaun Keaveny.

The Three Kings are f*cking amazing said Craig Charles.

Heralded by Craig Charles, who called them ‘f**king amazing’ Three Kings High will be joining the Nibley line-up.  Even the band themselves are unsure of the genre of music they fall into, but as Nibley Festival say, think of bass slapping funk, lyrically rich hip hop mixed with a dash of indie, stir in some energy and fun and you may well have found the perfect summer music cocktail.

Joining King Charles in Three Kings High at Nibley!

These are just a few of the awesome bands that I am looking forward to seeing at Nibley festival this year. For the full line-up and more information on one of BritEvents top ten best Festivals in the UK then go to their website nibleyfestival.co.uk or check out the details on Nibley Sponsors BritEvents.com.

The dreaded February half term is upon us, and parents all over the UK will be scratching their heads for ideas to keep little ones busy.
Low cost half term fun ideas for children

Low cost half term fun ideas for children

February half term is always the most dreaded school break for parents as the weather can be dreadful, and kids are left to hang around the house bored and eating you out of house and home.

But with a bit of forward planning and careful thinking, there are loads of things up and down the country to keep kids occupied this February.

BritEvents.com have some great ideas for Half Term just for you. So no stressing… the sun is out, the sky is blue, grab your coat, perhaps a Zoo?

1. The Wheels on the bus go round and round.

Catching the bus doesn’t sound that interesting, but kids are so used to be ferried around in cars nowadays that taking a ride into town on a bus can be quite exciting. Do you need to pop in town during the week? Well, this will be a perfect opportunity to take the bus instead of the car. If it’s a dry day, why not plan your journey to arrive just before lunch time, taking a simple picnic with you to be eaten in the park.

If it’s raining, there are plenty of coffee shops that you could pop into and treat yourselves with a warming bowl of soup.

2. National Trust properties and days out

National Trust properties nearly always have half term events for children. These can include pond dipping, walks, snowdrop spotting, family trails, winter milling and baking or you could try your hand at bird box making.

Normal entrance charges apply, but if you are members of the National Trust children go free. There maybe a small charge for each event. Check out what’s on by clicking here.

3. Story time

Most libraries have craft, story telling or children’s events on during the week for the under fives. But during half term some libraries offer these craft or story telling events to older children. All these activities are normally free, but can get quite messy, so remember to get your kids to wear old clothes. Some libraries offer a games mornings, craft events and most offer a story time. Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

4. Free football coaching in association with the FA and Tesco

During the school holidays FA Tesco is offering FREE football coaching at skill centres throughout England. This is a great way of introducing your children to try the programme for the first time. FA Tesco Skills holiday football coaching is a great way to develop football ability for girls and boys aged 5 – 11 and is available for all levels of abilities. Check out the FREE football coaching sessions by clicking here.

5. Splash sessions at local swimming baths

If you live in Wales, then you are very lucky as children in Wales swim free. Lots of leisure centres in the UK offer cheap ways of keeping your kids occupied in the holidays, and if it’s a rainy day, then at least you are under cover and don’t have to spend a small fortune.

Most centres have splash sessions in their swimming pools, which include fun packed sessions with fun shaped floats, toys and inflatables. There are some leisure centres out there offering crash course swimming lessons from just £10 per day or a whole week for £45. Check your local Leisure centre for more details.

6. On yer bike

Another great idea on a dry day is to pack up your car with bikes, skates, scooters, skateboards, bats and balls and arrange to meet in the local park with some other mums and dads. Kids will be happy to spend time with their friends and enjoy trying out each others toys. Perhaps whilst they are busy playing you could grab a well-earned coffee!

7. Walking off the winter cobwebs

Even if you live in a town, there is always somewhere where you can walk. It is fun to wrap up warm in coats and wellies and see where your feet can lead you. It is surprising how much you miss by travelling by car day in day out! Look up! There are so many things we miss whilst going about our busy everyday lives. Even walking around a town and looking up at buildings, statues or bridges can teach your children so much about their surroundings and even takes their mind off how far you have walked!

8. Fun at home

Sometimes a day at home, just chilling out and recharging the batteries is what kids and parents need once in a while. Why not plan a day at home, either baking, drawing, painting or even a games day. Dust off those board games and enjoy an afternoon of competitive fun playing games such as Snakes and Ladders, Ludo or even simple card games such as snap. You could even enjoy making your lunch together, which is a great way of getting picky eaters to eat their lunch! Always try to finish off the day with some exercise perhaps a race around the garden or even get the Wii out for some fun zumba dancing!! Haven’t got a games console? Why not check out YouTube for exercise or dance clips you can all join in!

What ever you do, keep safe and warm and always enjoy the rare opportunity you get to spend time together as a family! For more ideas go to www.britevents.com for What’s On. When It’s On
