The single peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts for six weeks straight.

I remember 25 years ago when we celebrated her Silver Jubilee, with street parties galore, the nation had a joyous occasion, I have even kept a scrap-book of newspaper cuttings and memorabilia from 1977.
Her Golden Jubilee was in 2002 which celebrated 50 years of The Queens reign, this sort of passed me by.
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee a celebration that won’t be forgotten.
But The Diamond Jubilee couldn’t have come at a better time for the United Kingdom and one that we will never forget, as we are also set to host the London 2012 Olympics which kicks off with the BT London Live Opening Ceremony Celebration on 27 July 2012. This celebration has a fabulous line-up with four bands representing the four home nations.

Alton Towers Theme Park in Staffordshire makes a U-turn on opening hours decision.
Alton Towers decision to cut their opening hours by 1 hour during their slower periods have made a dramatic U-turn due to pressure from their Facebook page and discussion forums.
Some theme parks close at 4pm during the months of September and October, Alton Towers were going to follow suit but these plans have now been scrapped after the majority of fans of the theme park appeared critical of the decision.
This is the second decision this year that has been scrapped by Alton Towers. Earlier this year the park had advertised that the Submission and Enterprise thrill rides in X-sector would close for 2012, this was later overturned.
2012 sees the opening of two brand new attractions at the resort, Ice Age 4D and Nemesis Sub-Terra ride.
Nemesis Sub-Terra ride has been rated by film chiefs as too scary for under 12′s, therefore the ride now means that under 12′s will need an adult with them to go in.
The ride is based on the original Nemesis ride which was opened in 1994. It is shrouded in secrecy, but is known to be set underground in a system of caves and contains some intense moments and scenes that are usually experienced in science fiction or horror films.
A spokesperson for Alton Towers said ” The classification is important for the resort to ensure the wellbeing of our guests.
“We are aware the enforcements that will now be implemented will mean that many of our younger visitors are unable to experience Nemesis Sub-Terra, which we are obviously concerned about.
“However, the Alton Towers Resort prides itself on offering a variety of rides for all ages and we hope that those under the age of 12 will continue to enjoy our other attractions.”
Formula 1 returns this weekend and the season ahead promises thrills, spills, and plenty of excitement with several drivers rated as potential champions.
Formula 1 returns this weekend
The Formula 1 off-season has largely seen a flurry of activity on the part of the McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes teams to make the necessary changes to their cars to enable them to make up the ground on Red Bull, the winner of the constructors championship the last two years.
After a second consecutive world championship for Red Bull’s Germany tyro, Sebastian Vettel, his rival drivers can’t wait to return to the track in competitive action and prove that they are worthy title contenders.
Last season, in what proved to be Vettel’s second world title year, the real drama was in the race for second place as the German driver’s superiority was never seriously in doubt. He won 11 of the 19 F1 races, as opposed to just five in his first championship year, and totalled 302 points, whereas Jenson Button, who finished second, only managed 270.
This year promises to be much closer, with technical advances on the part of the other teams, eroding the gulf in class that was clearly established last season. McLaren have reportedly made great strides and they possess two drivers in the form of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button who are both former champions in their own right, and who are desperate to prove, once more, that they are better drivers than Vettel, and that it was the superiority of Red Bull car that handed him his second title.
There’s no doubt that, in terms of driving ability, there is little to choose between Vettel, Button and Hamilton, and of course another former champion, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
The latest news from the Ferrari camp is not good. The team only managed a single race win last year and their attempts to close the gap with Red Bull appear to have been less than successful with reports suggesting that they will not contend for the title this season – an unacceptable situation for the fanatic Black Stallion fans.
Another historic racing name are more optimistic for the coming season with Mercedes pre-season testing going well and Ross Brawn being bullish about their chances.
It’s difficult to look beyond Red Bull and McLaren though as they represent the best balance of driver and machine. Both teams retain their 2011 line-ups with defending champion Vettel and Mark Webber racing for Red Bull and the British duo of former champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button representing McLaren.
Vettel looked untouchable for most of last season but those close to the paddock feel that with the right car Lewis Hamilton will be the greatest threat in his quest for a third consecutive championship. Hamilton is widely regarded as the fastest driver in F1 but his propensity to take risks, undermines his challenge at times.
Fellow Brit Jenson Button is more mature and he certainly demonstrated a far better tactical appreciation than Hamilton last year in finishing second. Moreover, he appears to be more popular with his team engineers and he is certainly less likely to cause controversy, either through a dramatic collision or a rash comment or two to the press.
If Ferrari are unlikely to challenge the next question is which teams could snatch the odd piece of glory, given the assumption that the battle for the main honours will be a straight fight between Red Bull and McLaren? Williams will no doubt look to bounce back from a pretty awful 2011 and having the Renault engine back on board will help.
Sauber, will similarly hope for improvement one year on whilst Lotus and Caterham will probably hope to snatch a few points when the major teams slip up.
This years F1 championship has expanded to 20 races with the return of the Bahrain Grand Prix – a contentious extension to the F1 calendar – and the return of the United States Grand Prix at a purpose-built venue in Austin, Texas.
The new season kicks off in Australia this weekend with practice sessions due to commence on Friday 16 March, qualifying on Saturday 17 March and the grand prix proper on Sunday 18 March. After Australia the Formula 1 circus moves around Asia before hitting Europe, returning to Asia and finally transferring over to the Americas.
The British Grand Prix will be held at Silverstone on Sunday 8 July with practice and qualifying on the two days prior to that.
Log on and check us out – you wouldn’t want to miss those great British drivers, Hamilton and Button take on the world on their home circuit. Britevents also has tickets for the Spanish Grand Prix on May 13, the Monaco Grand Prix on May 27 and the German Grand Prix on July 22 should you fancy seeing your favourite sport in a different country.
